F1 MANUFACTURING CENTER

Interested in participating in the Formula One Technology Challenge in Schools program, but you do not have a CNC router?

Richland High School can manufacture your F1 cars at a reasonable price.  Simple F1 car designs (machined on two sides) are $70.00 + $8.00 handling charge and complex F1 car designs (machined on three sides) are $100.00 + $8.00 handling charge.  This price includes the cutting of two identical balsa wood blanks. Please allow two weeks for completion.

Here’s how it works:

1)     Create a 3D model and export the design as an .stl file.  Cars must be within design specifications and no longer than 210 mm.

2)     Email Brandt Hutzel at Richland High School (bhutzel@richlandsd.com) your team’s CAD and .stl files.

3)     After the files have been analyzed, F1 Teams will receive payment instructions or a request for additional information via email from Richland. We can accept checks, credit cards, or purchase orders. All payments will be made through HITech Inc., Contact email: f1makecenter@hitechinc.us

4)     Once payment has been received, two identical cars will be manufactured using the .stl file that you have supplied.

5)     The cars will be shipped back to you.

Please note:

You MUST provide both a CAD and .stl file. The center of the CO2 chamber must be located 29mm from the lowest point (bottom) of the car. No modifications to design will be made. Additional charges for redo’s will apply.  Please see the back of page for additional details

NEED MORE INFO or to send files?  Email Brandt Hutzel (bhutzel@richlandsd.com)

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

1.    Make sure you have read the F1 in Schools car specification rules completely.

2.    Manufacturing Centers are not permitted to make any changes to designs.  They will manufacture   what you  design.  Make sure your design can be machined!

3.    You must send both the .stl file and original CAD part file to the manufacturing center.  CAD files will be used to verify the location of the CO2 chamber in the F1 car design.

4.    Axle holes will be bored using a 6.350 mm cutter, unless specified.

5.    All cars are machined using a 6.350 mm cutter.  Teams should be aware that thin components of their F1 cars may be removed during machining.

6.    Teams should keep in mind that hand sanding should occur after the machining of their F1 cars.  If tolerances are too small, this will prevent the team from smoothing machine marks when they receive the F1 cars.

7.    F1 cars will be shipped UPS Ground.  For teams that desire expedited delivery, an additional charge will be assessed.

8.    Please contact Brandt Hutzel (bhutzel@richlandsd.com) if you have any questions regarding your design or order.
